Suspected armed robbers have allegedly robbed the IBM fuel station at Pakyi No. 2 in the Amansie West district of the Ashanti Region.
The armed men broke into the office, disconnected the CCTV camera, and destroyed the digital video recorder.
In an interview with the media, the director of the IBM fuel station, Kwabena Tawia, reported that five fuel attendants were assaulted.
He disclosed that the attendants had their hands and legs tied while the attackers proceeded to rob the station. The security guard on duty was also attacked, he added.
The suspected robbers allegedly stole the money safe and other sums of money. Tawia appealed to the Ashanti Regional Police Command to intensify patrols in the area to protect them from criminals.
Some workers also complained about an increase in criminal activities in the area.
They claim that thieves and other armed individuals have been harassing and terrorizing residents and business owners.
Furthermore, some allege that the armed men threatened to kill them if they failed to comply with their orders.
A passionate appeal was made to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo Dampare, to urgently establish a police patrol team in the area.
The attendants believe that the absence of a police patrol squad has allowed miscreants to take over the area’s nightlife.
