Showbiz personalities who graced Mahama’s running mate unveiling event
As the world evolves, entertainment personalities are not only steadily showing robust interest in politics but are also switching between politics and showbiz.
This phenomenon has been evident globally and here in Ghana, some entertainment stars have publicly declared support for political parties and have played several political roles.
At the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s unveiling ceremony of Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as running mate for flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, some astute showbiz stars showed up in style.
These celebrities, some of whom are playing active roles in the party were spotted in action, at the event grounds at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
In a couple of videos that have since gone viral, some notable faces including the likes of Kafui Danku, Nacee, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), Kojo Jones, and John Dumelo among others were seen.
Gospel musician Nacee, a staunch member of the NDC’s campaign team, charged up the audience with an exhilarating stage performance.
Nacee in particular, is known to be the voice behind NDC’s campaign songs over the years.
John Dumelo and Kojo Jones, a Ghanaian actor and socialite respectively, are active members of the NDC who have even sought higher political ambitions based on the party’s ticket.
Actor John Dumelo is currently the NDC MP aspirant for the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat.
Also, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the manager of the Ghanaian music group ‘Keche’ who doubles as the NDC Amenfi Central MP aspirant, was spotted at the event.
Background
The outdooring of Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang as John Mahama’s running mate took place at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) on Wednesday, April 24.
Several key dignitaries including Members of Parliament of the NDC, the National Chairman, the General Secretary, the Council of Elders, and stalwarts of the party, among others, converged at the venue to introduce Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
