A social media user with the handle SympathyDeMayor has named nine school projects that were started and completed by former Anambra State Governor, Peter Gregory Obi during his tenure as Chief Security Officer of the state.
The user was reacting to a wager posed by Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide.
According to him, Peter Obi initiated and completed the construction of several schools, including Community Secondary School, Uruagu- Nnewi, Community Secondary School, Nteje, Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka, St. Augustine’s Grammar School, Nkpor, Agulu Girls and Boys Secondary School, Agulu and Oraukwu Grammar School, Oraukwu.
The others are St. Paul’s University Primary School, Awka, Community Secondary School, Umuokpu and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Secondary School, Awka.
“These are some of the schools he started and completed during his time in office, contributing to the improvement of education infrastructure in Anambra State,” he added.
Omokri, in an interview on the ‘Mic On Podcast’ program hosted by Channels Television’s journalist, Seun Okinbaloye, late Saturday challenged Obi’s supporters popularly called ‘Obidients’ to mention one school Obi built while in office as Anambra State Governor from 2007 to 2014.
He offered to give a $10,000 reward to whoever could come up with a response.
Omokri said, “I am giving a challenge. I will give any (Obidient) $10,000 if they can name one school that Peter Obi started, completed, and commissioned while he was governor.”
In the interview, he also claimed that a local government chairman in Lagos performed better in office than Obi while he was a state governor.
Omokri added, “The Chairman of Eti-Osa Local Government Area in Lagos State has more achievements in governance than Peter Obi.
“I know for a fact that the Eti-Osa Local Government Chairman has built at least, to my knowledge, three schools.”
