The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) has released a statement in response to the contentious BBC documentary on its founder, the late Temitope Babatunde Joshua, widely known as Prophet TB Joshua.
SCOAN criticized the broadcasting station and its documentary in a statement signed by Dare Adejumo, its public affairs director. The statement called the documentary “baseless” and made clear that the people that were interviewed were not connected to the church.
The church wanted to dispel any misunderstandings that might have resulted from the documentary, which sparked differing opinions among the Christian community as well as among worried Nigerians and authorities.
It is noteworthy that major charges against TB Joshua, including claims of rape by certain members, were the focus of the BBC documentary that aired on Monday, January 8 and generated headlines.
However, SCOAN has said: “BBC World Service’s investigative unit, codenamed Africa Eye, came out this week with weird and strange episodes of atrocities against the late founder of SCOAN.”
The church stressed that the probe was conducted in a way that strayed from the fundamental values and ethical standards of the journalism profession.
According to the church, in order to maintain its prestigious status as the fourth estate of the realm, journalism, as a watchdog on society, must adhere to the principles of justice, impartiality, and balance.
The statement added: “BBC has compromised these lofty principles by descending into fictional narratives and propaganda, thus turning itself into a weapon for a hatchet job as gangsters in the gab of journalism with a destructive ulterior motive for personal gains against a perceived enemy.
“Only BBC can best explain why it woefully deviated from true journalism and chose to be dishing junks and feeding the public with stones called bread by its offensive and disenchanted reports of disgruntled elements.
“This to say the least, is insulting to our professional and public intelligence. One thing is very obvious, hundreds of BBC charades cannot rubbish the indelible footprints of TB Joshua’s legacies on earth again.”
The Church claims that many people have reaped incredible benefits and witnessed incredible miracles as a result of the anointing and grace that the Lord gave them through TB Joshua.
It stated that these beneficiaries are indisputable and can be seen everywhere.
Many of the people, according to SCOAN, are from the UK, which is where the BBC is headquartered. It did, however, express sadness that the BBC’s blatantly biased narrators are used in place of their presence and that its biased investigative eyes ignore them.
According to the church, other families that had been divided but were brought back together by TB Joshua are also voicing their displeasure with the BBC’s dissemination of incorrect information.
It further stated that the inflammatory reports have infuriated a number of vulnerable youngsters from around the world, some of whom were brought by their parents and others who were saved from drug dens or brothels and had their destinies restored.
“Some of those identified there are relics of homosexual and lesbian associates. My findings further show that everything the BBC put together is strange to SCOAN.
“One other clearly illogical thing in the charade is the BBC categorical statement that the man of God was involved in all the abuse for over two decades!
“How can that be in a nation governed by law? It shows the station’s crude disrespect and bizarre perception of Nigeria.
“Where were all those shameless interviewees in all the decades? Was it when the man passed on that they suddenly became awake or came back to their senses? Only a fool will have respect for such charlatans,” Daily Post quoted the Church’s statement to have read.
Ignoring the documentary, the church also stressed that, the BBC’s only goal was to disparage the church by speaking negatively about it.
The church went on to say that it was obvious that the people who produced the BBC’s prejudiced program must have been jealous of the church’s continued growth, drawing a comparison between it with a blossoming tree that was planted next to a river.
It stated: “Thank God your report exonerated his only wife of any wrongdoings throughout the decades of your so-called investigated lopsided work.
“But did you think any wife at all can see and watch all those nonsensical and annoying scenarios you painted for decades and still kept silent? I am yet to read or see such a woman in the universe!
“This is illogical, irritating, incomprehensible, unfathomable and satanically dubious and malicious”
