CPP celebrates 69th Anniversary, rallies Ghanaians to ditch corrupt parties

National Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Prof. Edmund Delle has charged Ghanaians to break the convention of handing over power to either the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) or the main opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC) in order to pave way for the Nkrumahist group noting that they are the only ones with the credibility and right vision for the country.

Addressing a room packed with party faithful and journalists, Prof. Delle stated that the time was right for CPP to intercede and deliver Ghanaians from the two long serving parties which he added had riddled the country with corruption scandals.

“At this fork road of despair and a yearn for hope, there has never been a greater validation of the ideals upon which the Convention People’s Party was founded, there has never been a greater moment in our history where the need for a third party, where the need for an alternative to the two party system of entrenched corruption and failed leadership, where the need for a restoration of our dignity, our value, of our purpose, has shined so brilliantly hope illuminating the darkness of our despair.” He stated

In addition, he declared “We must lead by example and start with our party and all Nkrumahists nationwide. On this 69th anniversary of the founding of the party that liberated our country from the shackles of colonial subjugation, I call on Nkrumahists to unite for a new challenge to liberate Ghana once again, this time not from foreign rule, but from the shackles of corruption and failed leadership.”

He charged party enthusiasts and Nkrumahist far and near to unite and come on board to rebuild the CPP in order to be able to able to take up roles and tasks to help liberate the Ghanaians.

“Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the founder of the nation once said, “if our revolution must succeed, then every man and woman of good intention must be given a role to play”. Thus, every member of the party has a duty to play in our efforts to rebuild our party and liberate our great nation.” He concluded.

Present at the event were members of the party’s Council of Elders, party enthusiasts.

Conspicuously absent were Samia Nkrumah and 2016 flagbearer Ivor Kwabena Greenstreet.
