74-year-old man dies after sexual bout with 20-year-old lover at East Legon

A 20-year-old interior decorator, Pearl Agbomadzi, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of her 74-year-old lover, a British national residing in Ghana.

According to a report by 3news.com, on August 2, 2024, the deceased, John Scott Hughes, who was in a relationship with Pearl, called her on the phone to meet him at American House at East Legon.

They later proceeded to a popular entertainment hub, Philipo’s Movie House at East Legon.

Scott Hughes consequently booked room 7 for the two of them. The duo engaged in a consensual intimate session after watching a pornographic movie.

The prosecution added that during the encounter, the 74-year-old British national became unconscious.

Sensing danger, Pearl rushed to seek assistance from the receptionists and informed them about the condition of her lover.

The police were then informed, and Hughes was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a medical officer on duty at the facility.

The report noted that the complainant is the wife of the deceased.

At the High Court on Thursday, October 24, 2024, counsel for the accused person, John Baptist Ayedze, prayed for bail for his client, who has since been in police custody.

The prosecution led by Assistant State Attorney Frederick Adu Gyamfi did not oppose the bail application.

The presiding judge, Lydia Osei Marfo, then granted bail of GHC 100,000 with a surety.

In her closing remarks, she advised older men to be cautious of their sexual lives and not go for younger women, who she said can be hazardous due to the age difference.
