7 feared dead, many injured in accident at Obretima

Seven people have been reported dead with about 25 injured in a fatal accident at Obretima near Akyem Apedwa in the Eastern region.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, September 21, 2024.

The Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority(NSRA) David Osafo Adonteng confirmed the incident on Adom FM midday news.

He said the accident involved a VIP bus and a diesel fuel tanker which were travelling in opposite directions.

Mr. Adonteng noted that, the tyre of the fuel tanker, traveling from Accra to Kumasi, burst, causing it to veer into the lane of the VIP bus coming from Tamale to Accra.

Emergency service worked effectively to rescue some passengers who were trapped after the accident.

The victims have been rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital for medical attention.
