Wontumi lied; he has met Anas only once – Kwaku Baako
Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako has accused investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas of being “corrupt”.
In a video teaser posted yesterday Multimedia’s social media handle, Adom TV, Mr Wontumi is seen accusing Anas of doctoring interviews he has with people.
According to him he once pulled a gun on Anas due to his corrupt nature of investigating people, adding that Anas is more corrupt than the “saviour” people perceive him to be.
The politician further alleged that Anas works for former president Mahama and his brother, Ibrahim Mahama.
“I don’t know Anas in NPP; I know Anas to be a Mahama Boy. He works for the NDC. He is a very corrupt guy and very soon I will come out. I once pulled a gun on him… If you take his tapes to the lab, you can detect they have been cut and some taken out; that is what will make you know he is a liar”, Wontumi had said.
But Mr Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako the editor in chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper has said Wontumi’s comments shouldn’t be taken seriously as to the best of his knowledge, Anas has only met Wontumi once.
Reacting to the issue on Facebook, Mr Baako wrote:
“Anas has met Wontumi only once in his life and that was because Wontumi knew Anas’ bodyguard who introduced him to Wontumi. Beyond that fleeting moment, Anas and Wontumi have never ever crossed path again!” He wrote.
Mr Baako also denied any linkage between the Mahamas and Anas.
“Anas has never been commissioned by John Mahama to conduct any sort of investigation into anything remotely connected to Wontumi and anybody close to him. NEVER@FACT!! Yes!” He wrote.
All this was in response to a question a facebook user asked Mr Kweku Baako thus:
“Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, how about the investigations he did on behalf of John Mahama on Wontumi in which a young man was arrested for impersonation because he blew the trumpet to Wontumi?”.
Mr Baako replied:
“Nana Prempeh Okogyeabour. No such investigation transpired. Anas has met Wontumi only once in his life and that was because Wontumi knew Anas’ bodyguard who introduced him to Wontumi. Beyond that fleeting moment, Anas and Wontumi have never ever crossed path again! Anas has never been commissioned by John Mahama to conduct any sort of investigation into anything remotely connected to Wontumi and anybody close to him. NEVER@FACT!!Yes!
“Hafix was sent to court for prosecution. Anas does the naming and shaming. Prosecution for possible conviction and sentence falls outside his remit. If Anas was minded to “kill” a case as being alleged, won’t he find easy to do so within the realm of investigation where he has/had total control and command? A season for bogus informants! But the weather will become soon! Very soon!!
“Nana Prempeh Okogyeabour . Tell Wontumi that I say he’s simply a joke! He is entering a territory beyond his comprehension and capability!Wontumi had been to the Labone Coffee Shop more than once to lament to l me over or about his business challenges and other interests. Not once did he tell me Anas was investigating him or anything connected to him. Not once! He’s challenged to make a disclosure contrary to my assertion!”
Mr Baako responded to Anas Armeyaw Anas’ ownership of some real estate properties:
“Nana Prempeh Okogyeabour. I don’t know if you are an estate valuer. I confirmed that that building (not buildings as originally alleged) belonged to a company called Phinas Pharma Ltd in which Anas has an interest. The is registered in accordance with the laws of the land.
I also proved with documentation and records that the allegations of non-payment of taxes and SSNIT contributions were patently false! That was the trust of my submission or “confirmation” as you choose to put it.
If anybody thinks or believes that the ownership of that building is as result of proceeds of criminal activity or activities, let that person provide something of evidential value to back up his/her or their claims and also forward the information to the relevant State Authorities for scrutiny and action. Or? Nana Prempeh Okogyeabour.
Tiger Eye is also registered to do business in the field of private investigation and multimedia communication and research. They have both individual and corporate clients in Ghana and elsewhere. They pay their taxes and SSNIT contributions as well.
I displayed some of them at Peace FM and Joy FM last week. And please note that Tiger Eye is not the same as Phinas Pharma Limited which is registered and enabled by law to engage in importation of pharmaceutical products, etc. These are public records. No need for anybody to pretend they are uncovering anything! Nana Prempeh Okogyeabour.
Proceed to trigger the appropriate action/valuation process. Go beyond mere allegations on radio and television even though I am not averse to that. But go beyond that. Who gets a valuer to do that? And how and why? Follow the lead/trail. Be a CITIZEN! And a vigilant and responsible one as such!
