5-year-old boy killed by truck at Begoro while returning from School

A 5-year-old boy, Crispin Omane has been killed by a truck in Begoro in Eastern Region while returning from school.

The incident occurred on Friday, January 17, 2025, when suspect driver Seth Lartey, 58, was driving a Hyundai Kia Rhino with registration number GM 906-21 from Apaa Junction toward the main lorry station in Begoro.

According to reports, while branching at the roundabout near the ECG office, the vehicle’s back right-hand tyre struck the child who was walking along the road.

The victim was rushed to the Begoro District Hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead by the medical doctor on duty while receiving treatment.

The body has been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The accident vehicle has been impounded at the Begoro Police Station for further action.

The case is being investigated by Corporal Rudolf Agoalikum of the Begoro District Accident Squad.

A similar accident occurred two days ago at Akuapem Mamfe where a 2-year-old boy Obrempong Offei Adjei Newman, lost his life after being knocked down by a Hyundai Gold truck with registration number GS 5262-23 driven by Figgis Amankwah, 35.

The truck, loaded with crates of mangoes, was travelling from Accra to Somanya when the accident occurred around 4:20 PM.

According to police investigations, the child had just alighted from a taxi after school and attempted to cross the road to meet his mother on the opposite side when the truck crashed him dead.
