Prioritize the needs of the masses – Christian Council to new E.P. Church Ministers

Seven (7) pastors of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana have been ordained into the Holy Ministry of Christ after fully serving a two year probation period stipulated by the church for commissioned pastors.

They are Revd.’s Ishmael Doglo, Nelson Joshua Sefakor Tam, Senyo Attipoe, Saint Dela Asiwome Amegbe, Victor Etornam Akpi, Eleworlasi Ankah and Johnny Davis Timpong.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Seth Senyo Agidi who doubles as the Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana, and the Moderator of the General Assembly of the E.P. Church, Ghana delivered the sermon for the occasion on the theme “Jesus – The Great Provider”.

He noted that, although there are several churches in the country, the nation is saddled with a high rate of inequitable distribution of wealth.

While the masses struggle to make ends meet, the few elite patronize them for their comfort. He touched on the new educational shift system being introduced and expressed misgivings about its potency to develop young people significantly.

“In a nation where we give little attention to the key factors of socio-economic growth to amass wealth, the younger generation will have little hope for a sustainable future. We need to rise above self-seeking interests and emulate the Christ-like nature of sacrifice and provision for the needy”.

While congratulating the newly ordained pastors, he called on them to seek the interest of members of the church and society as they lead exemplary lives. “Jesus will graciously provide your needs when you guide his flock in the right way”- he told them.

The event which was celebrated at the Elorm Parish, Ho-Bankoe had the Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Korbla Amey, Presbyter Executive, Presbyter Jonas Dzodzodzi, General Assembly Council Members and other seasoned ministers of the church in attendance.

The Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Korbla Amey also seized the opportunity to announce that from July 30 – August 1, 2018, the E.P.C.G. will organize a joint synod with its sister church Eglise Evangelique Presbyterienne Du Togo in Kpalime, Togo. He added that, on August 24, 2018 the Church will hold its extra-ordinary General Assembly in Ho to elect a new Presbyter Executive and promulgate its revised constitution.

He again stated that from September 5-9, 2018 the church will hold its national convention at Mawuli School, Ho. The general public was cordially invited.

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church Ghana is a product of missionary efforts of the Bremen Mission founded in 1847. The Church seeks to holistically propagate the gospel by empowering members spiritually, materially and socio-culturally to be effective agents of the Great commission in a self-sustaining way.
