23 nursing training students dismissed over poor academic performance

The Assinman Nursing and Midwifery Training College has announced dismissing 23 students for failing to meet academic standards.

Principal of the school Ophelia Nkrumah Johannes emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating that nursing professionals are responsible for human lives.

She noted that if a mistake is made, it can lead to unexpected fatalities, which would not only harm individuals but also negatively impact healthcare delivery in the country.

She noted that some dismissed students had repeated classes multiple times, yet their performance did not improve, giving the school no option but to take this step.

In light of this situation, she urged parents to refrain from imposing career choices on their children.

She stressed that many times, the fields that parents select for their children may not align with their interests or abilities, leading to unnecessary struggles.

She encouraged parents to engage in open conversations with their children, allowing them to express their interests and passions. This, she believes, will help students pursue careers in which they can truly excel.
