2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Ghana handed tough opponents

Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, have been handed a tough group in the 2025 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Ghana was placed in Group F of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers draw held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on July 4, 2024.

Ghana will play Angola, Sudan and Niger in Group F of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.

Two out of four countries in each group who amass the most points in the qualifiers will make it to the tournament to be hosted in Morocco.

Ghana and Angola qualified from their group together in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

Group opponents, Sudan is being coached by former Black Stars player and coach, Kwesi Appiah.

Ghana was placed in Pot 1 for the qualifiers of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

This meant the Black Stars were not going to face powerhouses like African champions Ivory Coast, Senegal, Egypt, and host nation Morocco.

The seeding of the teams in each pot was based on the latest FIFA rankings (as of June 20, 2024).

The 2025 AFCON Qualifiers are set to commence in September 2024.
