NDC must stop the ‘gutter to gutter’ politics – MP

Deputy Minister for Water and Sanitation, Hon. Patrick Boamah, is urging the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stop playing mischief and their dirty politics with roll out of the National Identification Card, popularly known as the Ghana Card, and get serious with issues.

The NDC, the MP for Okaikoi Central added, must stop the “gutter to gutter” politics since Ghanaians have gone past that level.

According to Boamah, it beats his imagination for the NDC to speak in favour of the requirements needed for the registration and instant issuance of the Ghana Card when legislation a law to back its implementation and latter turn around to criticise it.

Reading from the Parliamentary Debates (Hansard) dated November 16, 2017, the Ranking Member of the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Hon. Inusah Fuseini, said all the requirements stipulated in the law for the registration and instant issuance of the Ghana Card meets international standards.

Hon. Fuseini’s assertion, he added, was backed by the former Minister for Petroleum, Hon. Armah-Kofi Boah.

He said the former President, John Manama should have contacted Hon. Fuseini and the Chairman of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee, Mahama Ayariga before commenting on the roll out of the Ghana Card at Aflao during the NDC’s last Unity Walk which was held on Saturday, June 9, 2018.

Ghana Card: NIA sets up to begin registration of MPs

Officials of the National Identification Authority (NIA) have set up their equipment at the precincts of Parliament to begin registration and instant issuance of the National Identification Card, popularly known as Ghana Card, to Members and staff of Parliament.

The exercise, kasapafmonline.com understands, should have started on Monday, June 11, 2018.

However, a protest filed by the Minority threatening to boycott the exercise if certain issues bothering on the cost, scope and legality of the project as well as registration requirements are not addressed forced officials of the NIA to put the exercise until the issues raised are addressed.

Officials of the NIA and the Minister for Communications, Ursla Owusu-Ekuful are expected to address the Committee on the Whole before they will start registering the MPs.

Meanwhile, staff of Parliament have started registering for the issuance of their Ghana Card.
