Ambassador Alhaji Salamu Amadu has expressed deep sorrow over the recent shooting in Mamobi, which occurred on Sunday, 13th October 2024. According to reports, the incident took place during a violent clash between supporters of the NPP and NDC, leading to several injuries. Fortunately, no deaths have been reported so far, but a teenager was caught in the crossfire, intensifying concerns over the safety of the community.

In a brief statement, Ambassador Amadu said, “I am saddened to witness such a tragic incident, especially in a community we are working tirelessly to develop. What breaks my heart the most is that a teenager, who doesn’t even have a voter’s ID, became a victim of such violence.”

The violent clash has sent shockwaves through the community, sparking concerns over the rising tensions between the two major political parties ahead of the upcoming elections. Residents have called for increased security measures to prevent further escalation.

Ambassador Alhaji Salamu Amadu reiterated the need for unity and peace, emphasizing that no life should be lost due to political differences.

“We must remember that Ghana’s strength lies in its unity. Let us come together as one nation, respecting each other, and working towards a peaceful election.”

He also called for swift justice, urging the police to take strong action.

“Whoever is responsible must be brought to justice. The police force must remain vigilant. It’s disappointing that this is happening at a time when we are all praying for peaceful elections. Whether NDC or NPP, we are all one family. May Allah continue to guide and protect us. Ghana comes first. Ghana is a special country – 1 Ghana.”

The shooting left six people injured, with two of the victims rushed to the Police Hospital, while the remaining four are receiving treatment at Mamobi General Hospital.

The Director-General of Police Operations, COP Mr. Mohammed Fuseini Suraji, while addressing the NDC group, indicated that an investigation into the incident is underway. He called for calm and urged both political parties to exercise restraint to prevent further violence.

Despite the growing tensions, Ambassador Alhaji Salamu Amadu remains hopeful that through collective efforts, peace will prevail ahead of the elections.
