According to the outspoken presenter, many party supporters have expressed frustration over their unanswered phone calls to these appointees—a situation he finds deeply concerning.
Speaking on his show on TV XYZ, in a video shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Oheneba Boamah Bennie urged government appointees to abandon such arrogant and disrespectful behavior, warning that it could have serious consequences in the future.
“After just a few days in power, party members are already complaining that ‘if I call this person or that person, they don’t answer their phones.’ Even MTN customer care staff answer calls, and although you might hear music for some time, they eventually pick up and speak to you. The company handling the most phone calls in Ghana still answers calls. So stop your arrogance and disrespect. You should remember that this is a four-year journey we are embarking on, but time will be up soon, and when campaigning begins, people will learn their lessons.”
Oheneba Boamah continued: “When the NDC lost the election, many former government appointees, because of their corrupt actions while in office, found it difficult to go on radio and TV to defend the NDC. They even struggled to show their faces in public. Today, their CVs are as voluminous as the lecture notes used by university professors. They’ve realized that having a degree is important for securing appointments. If you have been nominated for a position where you appoint others, remember the party members who brought you here.”
The NDC, led by its flagbearer John Mahama, won the December 7, 2024 general election with 56.55% of the votes cast.
John Mahama was sworn in as president on January 7, 2025, and has since begun forming his government by making key appointments to critical sectors of the economy.
Ministers and chief executives have been appointed to ministries and government agencies to begin implementing the “Resetting the Country” agenda promised by the NDC while in opposition.
