A fire outbreak has reduced a sewing shop to ashes, burning 10 machines at Gomoa Akotsi in the Central region.
Information gathered by Adom News suggests the shop owner, identified as Mercy Obinkyere, collapsed upon receiving the news of her burnt shop.
Mercy Obi-Nkyere in an interview with Adom News after gaining consciousness recounted her loss.
I am an Adventist so I don’t go to work on Saturday so I was home taking care of my sick child when my sister rushed to my house to tell me what had happened. We rushed to the shop but couldn’t pick even a pin. I have lost everything to the fire; my customers’ clothes and 10 sewing machines of my apprentices, my knitting and industrial machines, she narrated.
Mercy has, however, received some immediate relief after the Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Kojo Asemanyi has provided her with four sewing machines with the promise of topping up with a GHC 1,000 as support for her.
