Woman baths ‘rival’ with acid over customers

A provision shop operator has been bathed with a liquid substance suspected to be acid by a colleague in the same line of business after both had a disagreement over customers, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.

Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSP Ebenezer Tetteh who confirmed the incident to MyNewsGh.com, revealed that it happened at Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region.

He revealed that the victim, Ama Dwomoh 45 and accused person, Vida Odame Boadi alias Ama Vida 32 lived in the same neighbourhood and were operating provision stores opposite each other in the Community 6 suburb of Oda.

They were said to have been quarrelling over customer patronage for some time now according to their neighbours.

Last Saturday, Vida in a Rambo style, accosted Ama Dwomoh who went to wash down in a bathroom in her compound and poured the liquid substance on her resulting in serious burn injuries on her face, chest and two arms and was rushed to Oda Government Hospital for treatment.

According to police sources, the victim is currently on admission responding to treatment.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and in her caution statement alleged she did the act because the victim insulted her about one month ago.

Accused Vida Odame was put before Akim Swedru Circuit court on charge of Causing Unlawful Harm. She was remanded into police custody until July 8, 2019.
