Woman allegedly stabs husband to death over sexual demands

Odunayo Olumale, who is 27 years old, was arrested in Oyo State, Nigeria, on charges that she killed her husband, Olamilekan Salaideen, with a knife because he wanted to have sexual relations with her.

On Wednesday, November 23, 2022, the suspect was shown along with 25 other people suspected of different crimes at the State Police Command in Eleyele, Ibadan.

SP Adewale Osifeso, a spokesman for the command, said that the suspect had returned to her husband’s house on that fateful day after being away for three months.

On the night of the crime, the victim is said to have made a sexual move toward the suspect, but the moves were turned down.

This led to fighting, during which the deceased is said to have broken his wife’s cell phone. In response, the suspect is said to have stabbed him in the upper chest with a knife.

The father of another dead person told the Durbar Police Headquarters in Oyo town about what happened.

“On November 17, 2022, Ismaila Tijani told the Durbar Divisional police headquarters that at 2:23 a.m. on November 16, 2022, his 35-year-old son, Olamilekan Salaideen, was killed by his wife, Odunayo,” the PPRO said.

“Early investigation showed that the dead man and his wife came back to their home in the Oko Oba area of Oyo town on the day of the incident, after being away for three months.”

“The deceased tried to have sexual relations with his wife, but she said no. This led to a fight, during which the deceased picked up his wife’s phone and smashed it on the ground. In response, the deceased was stabbed in the chest, which killed him.”
