Woman, 40, arrested for attempting to kidnap 7-year-old girl

The Manhyia divisional police command has arrested a 40-year-old woman for attempting to kidnap a 7-year-old girl at Zaabo Zongo in the Asokore Mampong municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The suspect, Hajia Fati, was arrested on Sunday, 16 June 2019 by the locals and handed over to the police.

The Assemblymember for the area, Alhaji Mohammed Bawa told Kumasi FM’s Elisha Adarkwah that the woman, after her arrest, claimed the girl was her daughter.

Unbeknownst to suspect, however, the woman who questioned her after the arrest is a paternal auntie of the child.
