Wizkid sparks outrage as he crops out Davido’s ‘Awuke’ from Spotify Nigeria’s top chart list

Grammy-winning singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has sparked a buzz online following a cryptic move toward his music colleague, Davido.

The Nigerian superstar set a new record with his latest single, Kese, which amassed a whopping 1.5 million streams on Spotify Nigeria within 24 hours of its release. This achievement dethroned the 1.016 million streams earned by his collaboration with Brent Faiyaz on “Piece of My Heart,” setting a new standard for Nigerian music on Spotify.

In a shady turn of events, Wizkid took to his IG story to celebrate the success of the song with fans and listeners by posting a screenshot of Chart Data’s Nigeria Spotify biggest peaks.

The initial post made by the singer, captured all 10 top streams, including Davido’s “Awuke,” but he immediately deleted it and cropped out Davido’s name from the list, where Davido was initially 10th, and then posted it.

According to Chart Data’s 10 biggest streaming peaks in Spotify Nigeria history, Wizkid dominates Nigeria’s music charts, occupying the top two spots for highest-streamed songs on their debut.

Kese leads as the most-streamed, with “Piece of My Heart” following closely in second place.

Adding to the Afrobeats wave, Asake’s Grammy-nominated track “MMS” from his album “Lungu Boy”, featuring Wizkid, secured the third spot with 870,000 debut-day streams.

Other songs, like “IDK” by Zlatan featuring Wizkid, was 4th on the list, “Benin Boys” by Rema and Shallipopi made it to the 5th position, Asake’s “Active” was 6th on the list, “Higher” by Burna Boy sat in the 7th position, “Ololufe” and “Diamonds” by Wande and Wizkid were 8th and 9th respectively, Davido’s “Awuke” took the 10th position with 495k streams.
