“Wicked Rawlings jailed and brutalized me for preaching God’s word but I have forgiven him” – Evangelist Akwasi Awuah

The founder and leader of Pillar of Zion Ministry which is headquartered in Kumasi, Evangelist Akwasi Awuah remains one of the popular clerics who suffered severe brutalities under the PNDC administration which was headed by the late Former President Jerry John Rawlings.

The seasoned evangelist who also doubles as the CEO of Akwasi Awuah Television while speaking on his private television station shared that despite all what he suffered under Former Jerry John Rawlings he chooses to mourn him.

According to Evangelist Akwasi Awuah, he was once arrested by the strike-force division of the Ghana Police Service per the order of the late President Jerry John Rawlings and he was sentenced to 28-days imprisonment for no wrongdoing.

He further shared that authority from above came in and he was said to be declared mad and was asked to be sent to a psychiatry hospital. To make matters worse, he shared that this was an attempt to inject him with a substance and made him mad eventually.

Akwasi Awuah Ministry’s founder and leader praised lawyers like S.K Boafo and Lawyer Prempeh after they heard his sad story from the Ghanaian Times Newspaper at the time.

“Today, I stand as a true Christian and prays for them even after their death despite all what they took me through. After been arrested and jailed by him. I mourn him today. That is the spirit of a true Christian ” he said on Akwasi Awuah Television.

As a reminder, Ghana’s former President Jerry John Rawlings has died at the age of 73. He led two coups, first in 1979, before twice being elected president in multiparty polls.
