Why not come back? – Nigerians react to struggling young Nigerians in Canada

A video is circulating of young Nigerians who are homeless and struggling to find shelter.

One woman named Simi shared her challenges in finding a home for herself. She explained that she came to Canada to study, and despite being a graduate, her fashion investments failed.

She noted that she has fallen into financial difficulties, lost her home and had to live on the streets. She also disclosed that she is dealing with mental health issues, making it difficult for her to maintain a 9-5 job. She expressed her intentions to find a place to live and secure a job.

Another young man, Peter, recounted how he lost his funding for education when his father suffered a stroke and could no longer send him money for school.

The 25-year-old also revealed that he has been struggling and had to live on the streets because he has no one to help him financially.

This video has generated numerous comments from Nigerians on social media. Many questioned why these struggling Nigerians abroad are failing to return to Nigeria.

Below are some reactions:

For the lady that got lost in the business she invested in, you’ll be fine try applying for a job to enable you to build good credit.

@DennizDream: Many Nigerians in Canada are struggling with shelter due to high rent prices, limited affordable housing, and the challenge of securing stable accommodation. This issue is exacerbated by a lack of sufficient resources, making it difficult for newcomers to settle comfortably.

@AbrahamIgudia1: They should stop complaining and nobody force them to relocate and stop discouraging those want to travel.

@enythnn: After spending over$20k to japa to Canada only to end up on the street. Omo, struggle to get a greener pasture is really hard.
