The name Salome Adaidu has been circulating among social and political commentators following reports that she was murdered by gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi.

Her death has reignited conversations about the increasing number of killings among young Nigerians.

Nasarawa police spokesman Ramhan Nansel was quoted by the Punch news website as saying, “Ajayi was found with a fresh human head, and when we arrived at the scene, we rescued him from being mobbed.”

The police have identified the deceased as a member of the National Youth Service Corps serving in the federal capital, Abuja.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, according to the police.

Meanwhile, Ms. Adaidu’s family is urging the Nigerian government to thoroughly investigate and prosecute those responsible for her death.

A friend of the deceased, Abby Simon, told BBC Pidgin that it was a tragic experience for Ms. Adaidu’s mother, who had lost her husband only seven months prior. She mentioned that the mother had fainted from the shock of losing her daughter.
