What nonsense! – A Plus fires Vim Lady over social media post on Ahmed Suale’s death

Independent parliamentary candidate-hopeful for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, alias A Plus, has criticised Ghanaian journalist Afia Pokua, also known as Vim Lady, over comments she made concerning his recent invitation to the CID headquarters.

This comes after A Plus, in a Facebook live video on Friday, July 13, 2024, claimed that he knew about the killer of Ahmed Suale, an investigative journalist who was shot dead some years back.

According to him, he was ready to announce who the killers of Ahmed Suale were, no matter the consequences.

“Me, I know the person who killed Ahmed Suale. I swear to God… I swear by the children I have brought to this world, if you try me, you will conduct a press conference every day,” A Plus said in the live video.

As a result, the police invited Kwame A Plus to their headquarters to assist in investigations into the murder of Ahmed Suale.

In reaction to A-Plus’s comments in a Facebook post, Vim Lady urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare not to allow his friendship with A Plus to cloud fair judgment.

She wrote “Invited to the Police HQ? IGP Dampare must prove that his friendship with him will not cloud the investigation #AhmedSuale.”

It is on the back of this that the former musician during an interview with Kumawood actor, Kwaku Manu, slammed the journalist describing her comments as nonsense.

“A lot of people on social media behave as if they are intelligent, but they are not smart. I can’t tell why they do that. A typical example is Vim Lady, Afia Pokua. She’s a typical example. She claims she’s a lawyer; lawyer from where? What I hate is when I show people respect yet they do not reciprocate. You’ve reached a certain level where you are supposed to teach people about how the law works; you are someone that a lot of people listen to, so every time you have to give people the right information.”

“The fact of the matter is that I have a lot of respect for her, but if she doesn’t respect herself, then I’ll do the same to her. I don’t play like that. You came and said, ‘IGP, make sure your friendship with A Plus does not cloud your judgment,’ meaning that A Plus said he has information about Ahmed Suale’s death, but don’t allow your friendship with him to interfere with the law. What nonsense is that? Why would you say such a thing?” he quizzed.

Kwame A Plus stated that he was baffled by Afia Pokua’s post stating that he believed his actions were justified. According to him, instead of criticising him, the journalist should have asked why he (A Plus) kept such sensitive information without reporting it to the police.

He said, “Someone has been killed, and another person said he can help the police to investigate and arrest the killer. So, all you had to do was ask why that person didn’t report the case to the police until now. But if you come out to say the person who’s coming to listen to me should deal with me according to the law, then what are you saying? What nonsense is that?”

The aspiring parliamentary candidate for Gomoa Central added, “I have decided to help you unravel what happened, but if you tell them to deal with me according to the law, what law are you talking about? What wisdom is in this? If I come and tell you about the killer and you think what I narrated would be effortless, then you let me go and sleep.”
