Ghanaian musician turned politician, Kwame A Plus, officially launched his campaign for the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections with a defiant and passionate speech.
At his campaign launch, which took place in the township of Gomoa Ekwamkrom on August 5, 2024, A Plus emphasised the importance of the Gomoa and Agona constituencies, which collectively hold 450,000 votes, in determining the election’s outcome.
“When we started the campaign, people said we couldn’t do it, but I am telling you we can. We are the ones who will decide what will happen during the upcoming election,” A Plus declared.
He dismissed rumours about legal troubles and assured his supporters of his long-standing presence and influence.
“There were rumours that I was taken to court, don’t pay any attention to them. Kwame A Plus has been here since 1998 and will still be here,” he stated.
A Plus also highlighted his contributions to the community, including the construction of a borehole in Ablekuma, a community centre, a health clinic, public toilets, and facilitating NHIS card registrations. He also mentioned his donations towards building a market.
In a direct message to President Akufo-Addo, A Plus claimed credit for the President’s previous electoral success in the constituency.
“Tell President Akufo-Addo that it was through my efforts that he won this constituency,” he asserted.
A Plus’ campaign launch featured a health walk around the township, which was widely patronised by supporters who took to the streets.
Also spotted at the event were his wife, Violet Obeng, aka Akosua Vee, entertainment pundit Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, and movie director and Head of Productions at UTV, Harold Roger Quartey, who came to offer their support for A Plus.
This comes after A Plus, once a supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), became a vocal critic of the administration and announced his intention to run for the seat in September 2023.
He would be going against the incumbent NPP MP, Naana Eyiah Quansah.
