We’ve retired them – Watch how Prof. Ayensu-Danquah, Awuni mocked the ‘Bissues’ 2024 election loss

Essikado-Ketan Member of Parliament (MP) Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah and her colleague, National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Okaikwei North, Theresa Lardy Awuni, mocked their challengers in the 2024 election, Charles Bissue and his wife Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, at the presidential inauguration.

The ‘Bissues’— Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue and Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei — nearly made history in the 2024 parliamentary election by becoming Ghana’s first couple in Parliament but were defeated by Prof. Dr Ayensu-Danquah and Theresa Awuni.

Charles Bissue lost his bid to the NDC’s Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, securing 17,754 votes against the 26,166 votes obtained by the NDC candidate.

In the case of his wife, Nana Ama Dokua, she lost the Okaikwei North contest to the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Theresa Lardy Awuni, who secured 28,363 votes against Dokua’s 20,627 votes.

Revelling in their victory at the presidential inauguration on Tuesday, January 7, 2024, the two MPs could be seen singing “girl power, girl power!” in a viral video.

Prof. Dr Ayensu-Danquah is captured in the video saying, “In Essikado-Ketan, I ‘murdered’ the husband.”

Theresa Awuni also remarked, “And I retired the wife.”

Prof. Dr Ayensu-Danquah then added, “They are both retired from politics,” after which the women burst into laughter.
