West Ham United ‘resurrects’ Father Bernard meme with Mohammed Kudus’ video

Premier League team West Ham United has revived the well-known ‘Father Bernard’ meme with a humorous video featuring Ghanaian striker Mohammed Kudus.

On their TikTok channel, West Ham posted a clip showing Mohammed Kudus tumbling after attempting to lift teammate Michail Antonio during the celebration of their second goal against Liverpool.

The Jamaican forward scored the tying goal for West Ham, who were behind 2-1 until the 77th minute.

In the same match, Mohammed Kudus secured an assist by delivering an excellent cross to Jarrod Bowen, setting up the first goal for West Ham.

About the ‘Father Bernard’ meme

The late Father Bernard, who was the Parish Priest of St. John the Baptist Church in Saltpond, passed away in February 2023.

The Vicar General of the Archdiocese confirmed the news of the Parish Priest’s death. Reports indicate that Father Bernard “passed away at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital after being urgently admitted on the evening of February 21, 2023.”

After his interment on March 21, 2023, a video of a woman sympathizer collapsing onto the coffin in a grave pit while exclaiming “eiii Father Bernard” went viral, turning her into an internet sensation.

The phrase “eiii Father Bernard” has since become a viral audio meme, often used as the soundtrack for various videos depicting people stumbling or falling.
