We didn’t vote for you to jump into people’s houses – Prophet Kofi Oduro blasts military raid on Ken Ofori-Atta’s home

The Head Pastor and Founder of Alabaster International Ministries, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has criticised the individuals who authorised some officers of the Ghana Armed Forces to raid the residence of former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta.

According to him, Ghana is governed by law, and the military has no business raiding Ofori-Atta’s home over alleged corruption.

He insisted that the government must uphold the rule of law.

“You think because it is the NDC, we won’t talk about it? What is the NDC? We voted you into power to serve us, not for this nonsense!

“We didn’t vote for you to be jumping into people’s houses, breaking stuff, and removing their properties. Stop this and be serious,” he said.

Speaking to his congregation on Sunday, February 16, 2025, Prophet Oduro expressed his outrage, saying, “Whoever sent those people to raid the finance minister’s house…that is the stupidity of the highest level!

“You think a man like that, if he leaves the country, will leave evidence behind? We are in a democracy, not a coup d’état regime. Sending soldiers to raid people’s homes, what kind of nonsense is that?”

He stated that the president can consult Interpol to extradite Ofori-Atta, if necessary, rather than resorting to such actions.

He further emphasised that due process must be followed in such cases.

“If the man is a criminal, allow the court to declare him as such. We don’t go to his house to create fear and panic. He has children, he has a wife, he has a family, he doesn’t deserve that,” he stated.

The man of God continued, “If it happened in 2017, that doesn’t mean we should continue the trend. Who sent those soldiers? We want to know.

“If the person has stolen money, the president has the power to authorise Interpol to bring Ken Ofori-Atta back. We have the power to extradite him wherever he is. Let us behave like a civilised society.”

A group of individuals dressed in military uniforms reportedly stormed the residence of former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

According to a post on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, by Channel1 TV, the raid took place at his home in Cantonments while Ofori-Atta was reportedly out of the country.

The motive for the raid on the former minister remains unclear.

Ken Ofori-Atta, an investment banker by profession, served as the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning in the cabinet of Nana Akufo-Addo from 2017 to 2024.

He co-founded Databank Group, a Ghanaian financial services company, and served as executive chairman until 2012, when he resigned.

Ofori-Atta was nominated by President Nana Akufo-Addo on January 10, 2017, and assumed office on January 27, 2017, as Finance Minister.

On February 14, 2024, he was relieved of his position as Ghana’s Finance Minister by Nana Akufo-Addo.
