We are beginning to feel like people who work on Wall Street – BoG Secretary at commissioning of ‘The Bank Square’

The Secretary of the Bank of Ghana, Sandra Thompson, has applauded the management of the Central Bank and the government for the institution of the new Bank of Ghana headquarters named “The Bank Square”.

According to her, the tireless effort of the team dedicated to the project has resulted in its fruitful completion.

She noted that the new building will result in a smooth workflow and provide a conducive atmosphere for the smooth running of the bank.

Speaking at the commissioning on November 20, 2024, she said, “We are beginning to feel like we work on Wall Street.”

The ceremony was graced by the President, the Vice President, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, and other distinguished guests.

The approximately $250 million project prompted heated debates following a report that revealed the central bank had made a loss of GH¢10.5 billion in 2023.

The Central Bank argued that the new building was necessary because its current headquarters was no longer fit for purpose.
