Watch the heated exchange between Okoe-Boye and Sam George over Mahama vs Akufo-Addo records

There was a heated exchange between the Health Minister, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, and Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, over the developmental records of the Akufo-Addo administration and the erstwhile John Mahama administration.

With less than five months until the general election, Ghanaians will make a choice on December 7, 2024, between Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former president John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

While there is ongoing debate about whose tenure produced the most results, the projects undertaken by the current administration and the previous one remain a political debacle.

During the June 13 edition of the Good Morning Ghana show, Sam George questioned Dr. Okoe-Boye about the number of key developmental projects initiated by the NPP.

Okoe-Boye mentioned the number of projects, but Sam George interjected, stating, “If you want to talk about hospitals, John Mahama has built more hospitals than Akufo-Addo. Randy, I am pleading with you, I will personally buy 10 minutes of airtime for Okoe-Boye to mention just 10 projects initiated under Akufo-Addo’s government.”

This exchange continued for several minutes, with Okoe-Boye responding, “All I want to say is that Ghanaians are fortunate to have two candidates who have both had the opportunity to serve in various government positions and have records.”

“By the time John Mahama completed his eight years as vice president and president, Ghana had entered an IMF program. Interestingly, by the time we finish our eight years, we are also in an IMF program. My honesty will not waver in politics, and I am focused on improving the lives of Ghanaians, so I will present the facts as they are and advise you to ask the NDC what they plan to do for you, rather than being swayed by the emotional displays we have seen from Sam George,” Okoe-Boye emphasized.
