Tensions reportedly rose at the Accra High Court on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, after officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) attempted to arrest the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
The incident occurred as the MP, who is also a private legal practitioner, was at the court premises. According to reports, a woman who identified herself as an EOCO officer approached the legislator, leading to a confrontation between the two.

The same sources, however, said the MP had not received any invitation from the agency.
The GhanaWeb report also described the encounter as tense, with the MP and the woman claiming to be an EOCO officer becoming involved in a verbal confrontation.
The development comes amid an ongoing investigation involving individuals allegedly linked to the Ghana Jollof social media account.
The MP has recently represented Salomey Awity Baffoe, a senior nursing officer who has been arrested and remanded in connection with allegations surrounding the operation of the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.
Salomey Baffoe was reportedly remanded for two weeks by the Adenta Circuit Court following her arrest. Her lawyer, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has questioned the basis for her continued detention, particularly in light of claims made in court that the person believed to be behind the Ghana Jollof account is currently outside Ghana.
The Manhyia South MP had also previously raised concerns about the treatment of Salomey Baffoe after her reported arrest in Techiman. He alleged that state security officials took her to Accra without informing her relatives or lawyers of her whereabouts at the time.
The latest confrontation involving the MP and EOCO therefore comes against the backdrop of heightened legal and security interest in the Ghana Jollof account and individuals authorities believe may have information about its operation.
However, it remains unclear whether EOCO formally invited the MP before the reported attempted arrest or whether a warrant or other legal process had been issued. EOCO had not publicly provided a detailed explanation of the incident at the time of the latest reports.
