GhanaWeb has chanced on an old video of late former Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, delivering a speech to patrons at the Pan African Historical Theatre Festival (PANAFEST).
Clad in his traditional northern smock, hat, and trousers, he was surrounded by several individuals, including Jake Obetsebi Lamptey.
PANAFEST celebrates the strengths and resilience of African culture and achievements of Africans in spite of the Transatlantic Slave Trade and its aftermath.
This event gathers artistes, performers, and enthusiasts from across Africa, creating a vibrant celebration that not only entertains but also educates.
Sadly, both leading politicians from the New Patriotic Party flock men have since passed away.
Alhaji Aliu Mahama served as vice president under the John Agyekum Kufuor administration from 2001 to January 7, 2009.
He passed away at the age of 66 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, who was the Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, also passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016, in London after a prolonged illness.
He held various significant roles in the Kufuor administration, including Minister of Tourism and Diasporan Relations from 2005 to 2007, Chief of Staff, Minister of Information (2001–2002), and Minister of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital City (2002–2005).
He also served as the National Campaign Manager for the NPP during the 2000 presidential election.
