WATCH: Okomfo Kwadee’s mother reveals the three things responsible for his current condition

The mother of legendary Ghanaian musician Okomfour Kwadee has blamed her son’s condition on bad company, drug use, and stubbornness.

In an interview on UTV’s United Showbiz on March 1, 2025, she expressed her concerns about his well-being and called for him to take a break from music to focus on his recovery.

Okomfour Kwadee whose real name is Jerry Anaabaa, rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits like ‘Efie Nipa’ and ‘Abrantee.’

However, in recent years, the once-celebrated artiste has faced public scrutiny over his mental health, with many speculating about his condition.

His mother, however, clarified that his struggles are not solely due to illness.

“It’s not really sickness; it’s stubbornness, bad company, and drugs, which I believe have caused him to be in this state,” she said.

She added that while she supports his musical talent, she is concerned about the negative influences surrounding him.

“It’s not that I am isolating him. If God has blessed him with the gift of music, I can’t stop him from using it. The issue is the kind of things that come from his music. Ghanaians know his problem. People say he’s sick, but it’s more than that,” she explained.

She shared her wish for her son to consider stepping away from music temporarily to focus on his mental and physical health.

“I would prefer he stops music if it means he will be mentally and physically healthy again. God will give him something else to do if he stops the music.

“Even if he can’t stop, he can at least take a break, recollect himself, and see that the path he’s going will not help him, so he can begin recovering,” she added.
