Watch Kufuor, Akufo-Addo, Pius Enam’s reaction after a poet referred to the president as ‘a short man’

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo joined the people of Akwamuman in the Eastern Region over the weekend to celebrate the 60-year reign of Nana Afrakoma II as the Queen Mother (Akwamuman Hemaa).

The President was seen among former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Pius Enam Hadzide, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority (NYA), and other dignitaries.

During a poetry recital session, a young man reciting poetry in the local dialect (Twi) generated laughter from the President and most of the dignitaries present.

As the young man continued with his appellations, he mentioned that if he had his way, he would refer to the President as “Amankwaatia.” This title, in other contexts, can mean a short person.

He stated that because people might misunderstand his appellation, they would claim he used “Amankwaatia” because the President is short.

“I would have called you Amankwaatia, but those who do not understand will say that it is because you’re short. But you are a genius, my elder; let me call you a genius,” he said while reciting his poetry.

The President upon hearing him burst out laughing and whispered something to former President Kufuor, who then responded with a comical gesture, leading to more laughter from him, the President, and Pius, who was sitting between them.
