Watch how parts of Asylum Down submerged after heavy downpour

Some areas in Accra have been severely affected following the torrential rain on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

In a video shared by GhOne TV on their X page and sighted by GhanaWeb, some portions of Asylum Down, a suburb in Accra, were submerged.

The heavy downpour has led to some houses in the area being flooded, forcing residents to evacuate and seek help.

Individuals residing in the area could be seen walking through the water.

According to GhOne TV news, residents attribute the situation to the poor drainage system in the area, which they have been seeking to address but to no avail.

The drainage system in some parts of Accra has been a long-standing issue that contributes to flooding whenever it rains heavily.

The government has been called upon on several occasions to intervene in the situation; however, it is yet to be known what measures it will implement to combat the menace.
