Man chops off woman’s wrist in the Northern Region

The police command in the Savelugu municipality has arrested an 18-year-old man identified as Imoro Abubakari for allegedly inflicting machete wounds on a 40-year-old woman, Faiza Abubakari.

The incident, according to the police, happened in Kpano, a community in the Nanton district of the Northern Region on 17 November 2018.

Information gathered by Class News indicate that the suspect, in his caution statement, admitted to the offence.

He accused the victim of attacking his mother with a stick and breaking her hand in that attack.

The suspect told the police that he lives in Tamale but went to the community when he heard the alleged assault on his mother.

He said the victim took to her heels when she saw him approaching with his machete.

He went after her and cut off the victim’s wrist. Residents of the area intervened, arrested the suspect and handed him over to the Savelugu police.

The victim was rushed to the Savelugu Government Hospital where she is currently receiving medical treatment.
