Watch how Ghana’s Rose Yeboah set NCAA Women’s High Jump record to qualify for the 2024 Olympics

Reigning African high jump champion, Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah, won the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women’s High Jump title on Sunday, June 9, 2024, in the USA.

Rose Yeboah clinched the title after astonishingly jumping a height of 1.97m, becoming the NCAA record holder for the highest jump in American college sports.

Additionally, she has automatically qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and will represent Ghana in the High Jump competition.

Speaking after the event, Yeboah, overwhelmed with ecstasy, expressed joy about her qualification for the Olympics and the records she set.

“I just got first in the high jump, became an All-American, and achieved a personal best at 1.97m. See you at the Olympics,” she said.

Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah is the reigning African high jump champion, having won the gold medal in the women’s high jump at the 2023 African Games held in Accra in March 2024.

Yeboah edged out her competitors after clearing a height of 1.87m with some impeccable skill to claim gold.

After eliminating her opponents at 1.87m, she attempted to better the record and take it to 1.89m but, unfortunately, could not surpass the challenge.

Nonetheless, she received loud cheers at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium as she jogged across the field, hoisting the Ghana flag after winning the biggest prize in the event.

She is currently a back-to-back gold medalist, having won gold in the 2019 African Games.
