Former Black Stars and Bayern Munich defender Samuel Osei Kuffour turns 48 years old today, September 3, 2024.

Osei Kuffour is regarded as one of the greatest African defenders owing to his illustrious career at Bayern Munich, AS Roma and other clubs.

He is one of the most decorated Ghanaian players, having won 13 titles in his club career, including six Bundesliga titles, four DFB Pokal titles, one UEFA Champions League title, one Intercontinental trophy, and one DFB Super Cup.

Kuffour started his career in Ghana playing for King Faisal before departing for Europe, where he played for Bayern, Nuremberg, AS Roma, and Livorno.

He was named Ghana Player of the Year three times, BBC African Footballer of the Year once, and finished second in African Footballer of the Year two times in a row.

In his international football career, he played a total of 54 matches, scoring three goals. He made his Black Stars debut in 1993.
