A CCTV recording has surfaced, capturing a dramatic daylight robbery in which a gang of armed robbers stormed a jewellery shop in Adabraka, Accra, and made off with sacks of cash.
The robbery, which took place on 2 November 2024, left residents stunned by the brazen attack.
In the footage, several men are seen loading sacks, reportedly filled with cash, into a parked saloon car. However, just moments after the car began moving, a 4×4 vehicle abruptly blocked its path.
Suddenly, masked gunmen armed with AK-47 rifles and other firearms emerged from the 4×4 and attacked the driver and a passenger, seizing all the sacks of cash from the car.
A series of videos shared online show the robbers firing a warning shot and scattering money into the air, presumably to divert attention from their escape.
In response, the Ghana Police Service has initiated a manhunt. In a statement issued on 2 November 2024, police confirmed the attack on a jewellery shop, noting that at least one person was injured during the incident.
“We are on a manhunt for the gang of armed robbers who attacked a jewellery shop at Adabraka in Accra on Saturday, 2nd November 2024, injuring one person,” the statement read. “We assure the public that we will capture the perpetrators and bring them to justice.”
Dr. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings, Member of Parliament (MP) for Korle Klottey, also responded to the incident, which occurred within her constituency. She expressed concern over the growing number of armed robberies in the area, highlighting that this was the second such attack in less than four months at the same location.
Dr. Rawlings vowed to address the issue with relevant security agencies to implement measures for safeguarding the community, stating, “I will follow up with the Ministry of Interior and National Security regarding these incidents. Ensuring the community’s safety is paramount.”
