Watch as truck falls off Achimota overhead onto the road beneath

A long truck fell off the Achimota overhead onto the road below after the driver reportedly braked suddenly to avoid a vehicle ahead.

According to witnesses, the vehicle mounted the pavement, broke through the railing of the bridge, and fell to the ground as a result of the sudden halt.

No injuries were reported in the crash that occurred Saturday evening.

The accident caused a gridlock along the Achimota-Tesano stretch. Motorists were left with no option than to avoid the route and seek alternative routes to continue with their journey.

On March 1, 2017, three persons sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital after a container truck fell off the Kwame Nkrumah Circle interchange in Accra.

The victims included; two men including the driver of the truck and a woman.

The DAF truck with registration number GT 5557 – 11 carrying two containers loaded with bags of rice and sugar, was reported to be climbing the interchange from the Silver Cup end of the road when it tumbled through the railings with the head and one of the containers crashing down onto two stationary buses, flattening one and grazing the other.
