Watch as Kaneshie is submerged after hours of downpour

Prolonged rainfalls in parts of the Greater Accra Region has rendered Kaneshie, a bustling commercial hub in Accra, flooded.

In a video shared on SikaOfficial’s X account on June 4, 2025, vehicles were seen driving through the flood waters, as high as the level of tyres of commercial buses.

“The flood situation at Kaneshie, following this morning’s downpour across Accra,” the caption accompanying the video stated.

The intensity of the rainfall quickly overwhelmed the drainage systems, turning roads into veritable rivers and creating an uncomfortable situation for commuters and residents alike.

The high volumes of water made navigation perilous, with some vehicles struggling to push through the impromptu floods that had formed.

Scenes from the video depicted a challenging scenario.
