Watch as Adwoa Safo is mobbed on arrival at NPP HQ to face disciplinary committee

Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, arrived at the headquarters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Monday, April 7, 2025, despite reports of a postponement of her summons by the party’s disciplinary committee.

Adwoa Safo had been summoned by the disciplinary committee to assist with an investigation into matters currently under review.

Videos of the former legislator’s arrival at the NPP headquarters show her being mobbed by supporters, who were chanting her name and singing her praises.

She could also be seen smiling broadly and singing along with her supporters.

She stated that despite receiving the summons late, she had decided to appear as a law-abiding member of the NPP.

“I received a letter yesterday on my way from the (sic)… Legally, weekends and holidays are not ideal for serving someone any official notice. But I’m a law-abiding citizen, I’m a lawyer of 23 years’ standing and I know what is proper.

“When I received the late notice, though it was only one day, I’m here to appear before the committee,” she said.

The former MP said she was unaware that her appearance had been postponed by the party.

She added that she had received no official notification to that effect earlier.

Background:

According to a report by 3news.com, the disciplinary committee postponed the hearing for Sarah Adwoa Safo, citing scheduling adjustments and internal considerations. The party assured her that a new date and time would be rescheduled and communicated accordingly.

Adwoa Safo’s appearance before the disciplinary committee stems from an alleged violation of a party directive that bars members from discussing sensitive party matters in the media.

Her remarks on Joy News’ Pulse Show on March 20, 2025, were deemed by party leadership to contravene this directive.

“I bring you warm greetings from the national secretariat of the party. Further to our earlier correspondence dated 24 March 2025, with reference number NPP/HQ/GS/2025/24/03/DC, inviting you to appear before the Disciplinary Committee on Monday, 7 April 2025, we wish to notify you that the said hearing has formally been postponed,” a letter is quoted by the media house.

The committee expressed its appreciation for Adwoa Safo’s cooperation and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to upholding the values of fairness, due process, and procedural integrity in all its deliberations.
