David N. A. Quarcoo, a digital investigations professional who describes himself as a confidant of Ghanaian businessman Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, has spoken about claims circulating that the businessman named a Central Region Member of Parliament and eight other people in connection with his ongoing case in the United States.
Quarcoo said he recently spoke with Abu Trica through a video call following the circulation of the reports and claimed that the businessman denied naming other individuals.
According to Quarcoo, Abu Trica laughed about the reports during their conversation and indicated that the claims being circulated about him were not true.
Quarcoo subsequently addressed the issue publicly, questioning the basis of reports suggesting that Abu Trica had provided investigators with the names of several people, including a serving MP.
He urged the public to verify information about the case through official court records rather than relying on claims circulating on social media.
The reports emerged amid Abu Trica’s ongoing legal proceedings in the United States, where he faces federal charges connected to an alleged romance-fraud network.
Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority previously said Abu Trica was arrested in December 2025 following a joint operation involving the Authority and other security agencies. The Authority said he was allegedly part of a network that targeted elderly victims in the United States through romance scams, with alleged losses exceeding US$8 million.
The US indictment alleges that members of the network used false identities and online relationships to gain the trust of victims and obtain money and valuables. The allegations remain subject to the US legal process, and Abu Trica is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Quarcoo has maintained that the claims about Abu Trica naming other individuals should not be treated as established facts without supporting documentation.
A recent video shared by Quarcoo showed him speaking with Abu Trica during a video call, with the two appearing to discuss the reports circulating about the case. A separate report said Quarcoo described the claims as rumours and said the two had initially considered ignoring them before deciding to address them publicly.
The identity of the Central Region MP allegedly mentioned in the reports has not been established through the information publicly available in the sources reviewed for this report.
Abu Trica’s case remains before the US courts as the legal proceedings continue. Any claims concerning additional individuals or alleged statements made by him would need to be verified through official court documents or statements from the relevant authorities.
Quarcoo has therefore called for caution in discussing the case and urged people to avoid spreading unverified information while the legal process is ongoing.

@demanpresident_ypgg 🚨 FACT CHECK: Abu Trica has NOT named or mentioned a single person. Since the last status conference, he has not even met his attorney in person, and no plea has been entered yet. So where is this story coming from? Let’s stop spreading claims as facts when the legal process has not reached that stage. Verify before you share.
