Volta Diaspora Caucus protest over ‘daughter of a murderer comment’ by NPP MP

The Volta Diaspora Caucus has staged a protest at Parliament House over a derogatory remark made by a New Patriotic Party (NPP) member against the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings.

The caucus, clad in protest attire and holding placards, expressed their displeasure over the incident, demanding an apology from the unidentified lawmaker who made the comment.

During a parliamentary session on February 4, 2025, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings attempted to contribute to discussions on the 60th anniversary of the death of Joseph Boakye Danquah.

However, the Speaker, Alban Bagbin, granted the floor to the Majority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin.

A voice from the Majority side referred to her as the “daughter of a murderer,” while another Member of Parliament added that there was enough evidence to suggest that her father had killed people.
