Viral Video Shows Police Officer Threatening Suspect in Alleged Taxi Robbery Case

A police officer has come under scrutiny after being captured in a viral video threatening a suspect during an interrogation linked to an alleged taxi robbery scheme.

According to reports, the suspects allegedly operated by posing as a taxi driver and a passenger to lure unsuspecting individuals into their vehicle. Once inside, victims were reportedly robbed of their belongings, particularly mobile phones.

In the widely circulated video, the officer is seen interrogating one of the suspects in an aggressive manner, demanding a confession. At one point, the officer is heard issuing a chilling threat:

“Herh! Are you the one who took the phone? I am asking you a question. If you don’t tell me the truth, I will make them kill you.”

A voice behind the camera, presumably from a bystander, is heard urging the officer to remain calm:
“Aban (officer), have patience,” the person said.

The video was first shared on social media by the account Sikaoffial, with the caption:
“Residents have nabbed two suspected armed robbers who were reportedly posing as a taxi driver and a passenger to rob unsuspecting victims seeking to take a taxi.”

According to the post, the suspects were apprehended after a failed robbery attempt and handed over to the Ghana Police Service. Several previous victims reportedly rushed to the scene after recognizing the suspects and reclaimed their stolen items, mainly mobile phones.

The video has sparked public discussion about police conduct during interrogations, with many calling for professionalism and adherence to human rights, even in cases involving serious crimes.
