Villarreal, Milan resume Chukwueze talks
According to Calciomercato, Milan CEO, Giorgio Furlani, led another round of negotiations on Wednesday to try to convince Villarreal to lower their £35m request for the midfielder, after initial talks broke down.
The 24-year-old, who has a year left on his contract with Villarreal, has been identified as a top target for Milan in the transfer window.
Furlani met with Villarreal officials in Italy a few weeks ago to begin talks about a sale of the Nigerian to Milan, but both parties couldn’t agree on a transfer fee for Chukwueze.
Villarreal are demanding £35m to sell him, with one year left on his contract. Milan had seen an initial £25m offer rejected by Villarreal.
It has been reported that Milan are already exploring the option of signing Netherlands’ Arnaut Danjuma as an alternative to Chukwueze.
The Nigeria International is keen on starting a new challenge in Italy after agreeing on personal terms with Milan weeks ago, but the transfer fee has been the stumbling block between the two clubs.
Chukwueze had an excellent time in Spain last season, notching an impressive 13 goals and providing 11 assists.
