VIDEO: Why is Nana Addo silent on Menzgold saga? – Stonebwoy asks
Zylofon signed dancehall act, Stonebwoy, who also signed as brand ambassador for embattled gold dealership firm, Menzgold has urged Ghanaians to ask themselves why President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has tight-lipped on the Menzgold brouhaha.
Stonebwoy wonders why the President is quick to address other issues in the country be it through social media or other channels but has so far refused to comment on Menzgold.
Stonebwoy made this statement on JoyNews with Doreen Avio when he was asked why none of the Menzgold ambassadors is being open on what led to the folding up of Nana Appiah Mensah’s Menzgold firm.
“Our father, the President, always addresses issues when they come up. Nana Addo spoke about Anas’s Ahmed Killing and other important matters but he hasn’t spoken about this [Menzgold issue] and I want people to realize this angle and know it’s a big situation. It’s a bigger issue for me Stonebwoy who was once a brand ambassador to which I have delivered and I am done with,” he said.
Stonebwoy added that the distressed customers had contracts that contained bailout clauses hence it’s only a few of the customers that are truly in pain.
“Whoever went to Menzgold had a contract and there are procedures if you want your money back. The best I could have done was to put in a work to keep [customers] calm. I endorsed and still stand by [Menzgold]. This [Menzgold saga] is way beyond us and some people have invested in it for years and never complained until the government asked them to stop. The same people crying about their monies might have probably received half of their monies.”
He, however, rubbished claims that being an ambassador for Menzgold has stained his brand.
“My brand is clean and if I am called to speak, I will surely speak,” he concluded.
