VIDEO: Two female fire officers at Weija station celebrated for impressive work

The work of an emergency response team like the Ghana National Fire Service, whose main task is to protect lives and property, is a daunting task that requires a lot of pressure and resilience, hence making it a male-dominated area.

But at the Weija Fire Station in Accra, two women are playing lead roles in the quest to protect lives and property.

For firewoman Rita Baffour Akoto, one of the two women who drive a fire tender in the country, her task is to carry her colleagues to the fire fighting scene on time when an emergency call comes through.

ADO II Beatrice Jarrah also has an inspiring story. She heads the team to the fire scene to douse the fire.

For her position, Beatrice assesses an emergency situation and provides the attacking strategy for fighting fires, and that makes her unique.
