Wa Central: Allies of NPP’s 2020 parliamentary candidate allegedly attacked

According to the office of the parliamentary candidate, the men numbering about eight stormed a polling station executives’ election center at Boli and attacked the party’s constituency treasurer, Abdulai Kpegla and some others.

Citi News can confirm that, Abdulai Kpegla, a personal assistant to Hajia Humu who got injured during the attack has been treated and discharged.

A Deputy Nasara Coordinator, Mohammed Nashiru, who witnessed one of the incidents, spoke to Citi News.

“Some men came to my office with cutlasses. They made so many accusations and rained insults on me. I was told they were mobilized by the Constituency Chairman. It was surprising.”

One of the NPP supporters who was assaulted narrated: “The attack happened on Wednesday on my way to drop a friend at the Wa Technical University. On my return, some men wielding cutlasses started chasing me, saying I am the one who has been supporting Hajia on Facebook.”

In another instance, a female supporter of the parliamentary candidate and three others were also assaulted by same group of men in another community of the Wa Central Constituency of the Upper West Region.
