Samuel Eto’o led Cameroon on the field at a point during his illustrious national team career, now he is looking to lead the Football Federation off the field.

FECAFOOT, the national football body is due to hold elections next month and Eto’o has thrown his hat into the race to become the next president.

The four-time African player of the year is upbeat of emerging tops despite what he calls “cheating.”

Despite talk of his candidature surfacing months ago, it was this week that he submitted his papers at the federation’s headquarters in Yaounde.

“I urge the opposite camp to be careful because we have accepted lots of things. I will be the next president of the federation despite all the cheating,” he stated disclosing that he had turned down a vice-presidential bargain to run.

Eto’o, back in September, declared that he believes it was “time to rebuild our football.”

An AFP report stated that the Court of Arbitration for Sport in January annulled the 2018 elections won by Seidou Mbombo Njoya, who Eto’o described as having “failed miserably”.
